We are expecting good looking, multi purpose, athletic puppies that will excel at hunting, hunt tests and other performance events. The litter will be whelped at Woodecoy Golden Retrievers in Ridgecrest, CA and is due February 25, 2017. Puppies available, please contact Danette Weich DVM at 760-384-8971 or use the contact form below. Preference given to performance and hunting homes.
Both Tank and Lyric have earned their GRCA Conformation Assessment Title (CCA), indicating correct conformation that adheres to the breed standard. Both parents are excellent markers and high drive dogs in the field with a nice off switch in the home, making them easy to live with as house dogs. Both have hunting experience as well as their hunt test training. Both get along well with other dogs and people.
Tank is half way to his AKC Senior title and will be continuing in obedience. Tank has earned a High In Trial in obedience. Tank’s parents were both OTCH MH dogs, and go back to dogs with both bench, field and performance titles at the highest levels.
Lyric is training for Senior and Master hunt tests, rally, and obedience and will resume her career after puppies. Lyric’s parents are both SH’s and go back to versatile athletic dogs with many bench, hunting and performance titles.

**Lyric has very mild DJD in both elbows. She has had 3 littermates checked and all 3 have cleared elbows. She has never been lame and has worked hard in the field since she was a young puppy. I believe Lyric has something to offer the breed and is unlikely to produce puppies with clinical lameness from elbow dysplasia when bred to a dog from a strong elbow clearance line, such as Tank.
Lyric is clear by parentage or testing for prcd-PRA, PRA1, PRA2 and Ichthyosis. Tank’s status is not known, although he is not clinically affected by any of these diseases. Due to the known method of inheritance of these diseases, we know that no puppies from this litter will be affected.
About our puppy raising: Our goal with our puppy raising is to expose the litter to a wide variety of experiences that will teach them how to learn and give everyone a confident puppy to take home. Puppies are raised in the house and exposed to early scent training and early neurological stimulation during their first 2 weeks. As they grow, puppies are socialized with children, adults and other dogs. They are exposed to birds (pigeons, ducks and pheasant), blank guns (important for both hunting and pet homes to decrease noise sensitivity), decoys, water (weather permitting), car rides, collars and leashes, sherpa bags and crates, and puppy agility equipment. After about 3 weeks of age puppies will have a litter box, this makes potty training much easier once they go to their new homes. Weaning is done gradually so the puppies can still interact with their mother and develop skills needed to interact with adult dogs.
Puppies will be dewormed, given their first vaccine and a veterinary examination, and microchipped. I do not remove dewclaws as the dewclaw serves a function in protecting the carpal joint while the dog is in motion. Pups are also exposed to nail trims and grooming.
We invite visitors, by appointment, after the pups are about 3 weeks old. For those of you living a distance from us I will try to do at least weekly updates with emails, pictures and/or videos so you can see the litter progress.
Puppy testing and matching will be done between 6.5 and 8 weeks of age. Pups are evaluated by breeder friends for conformation and many traits including birdiness, confidence, activity level, etc. These evaluations, your preferences and my litter notes are then used to best match them with their new homes. We do not ship puppies, so pick up in person is required.
